All but the brunette on the right started out as poodle-styled hair. The brunette is a single pony that had a very short pony.







The Kid on the left is a continuation of the Kid on the right. Leftie's yarn was painstakingly un-plied with a flea comb. Rightie's yarn hair was mostly done with a cat grooming brush. The brush is much faster, but the comb does a more complete job.

how much yarn for a reroot?

That skein of "Red Heart Super Saver" yarn weighs 5 oz (141 g) and is 244 yds (223 m) long. I used its twin to re-root this cute Kid with very long, very lush double ponies with two rows of loops around her face. Each strand in the ponies is about 32" long (you'll have to do the metric yourself, sorry). I have about 45 yards of yarn left, so let's round everything and say that this darling used about 200 yards of yarn. Her ponies are longer than most and fuller than most. Usually I cut the yarn into strands that are about half the size of the ones you see in this picture. Your mileage (oops, yardage) may vary. All done, dressed in wild clothing: ...and break-dancing on the floor!
