Curling Ribbon - Glad THAT'S Done!

The Kid on the far left was the inspiration - Leander, whoever you are, wherever you are, she is gorgeous! The current owner is Suzie Blanchard Dalbeck, I think, and she says "its just silver wrapping ribbon like you use on presents .... that you curl with one side of your scissors. I have to say it looks better in every picture then it does in person .... And by the looks of it, it was hard to do - so I have never mentioned (much) that it doesn't look as good in person. the pictures are all cute."

I used cheap curling ribbon from Dollar Tree. It's not the kind with ribbing, it's just smooth.

Just rooting the curling ribbon was pretty challenging. That stuff is SLIPPERY!

It also doesn't fill as well as yarn (or any other fiber, for that matter.) I used yarn in the same color as the curling ribbon for textural interest and to cover up the skull.

Leander had a heck of a lot more patience than I did, and used lots more ribbon, and I think she curled it more.

Here's my poor imitation from the front:

and from the back:

Now the question is what should she be wearing? She already looks like a birthday present complete with bow, so she can't really wear anything fancy. If she wears something plain, her hair is too fancy. She's wearing a yellow dress, yellow bloomers, white socks, and white high-tops and she's cute, but not stunning.
