Curlies - Hair for Softies

I'm a crocheting fool, I am.  These are little spirals in a long chain.
1.  Twelve single crochets, then
2.  Three single crochets in each stitch, starting two stitches from the end, then
3.  Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Not happy. Too floofy, scalp shows through in places.

Fluffy, but compact.

Just right.
